Coronation Street viewers saw Kate (played by Faye Brooks) and Rana (Bhavna Limbachia) propose to one another earlier this week.
However ‘Kana’ could soon be in trouble as Kate’s ex, Imogen Pascoe (Melissa Johns) is due to make a reappearance.
It comes after soap spoiler pictures have shown the actress on set filming a few episodes which will be shown before Christmas.
Imogen’s arrival in Weatherfield is tipped to be the catalyst in ‘Kana’s’ relationship, but what exactly does she want with her ex-lover?
A TV source has revealed the real reason she is back and apparently it is not to win Kate back.
“Rana has [made] contact with her and conversations could make her see that what she and Kate have is worth fighting for,” they told Metro.co.uk.
“There are hurdles ahead but the engagement and Kate and Rana’s love for each other are the real deal.
“Imogen acts as a catalyst for the pair reuniting, dealing with with the issues that have arisen between them and moving forwards with their relationship,” the insider added.
But whilst Imogen will try and smooth out any issues in their relationship, it seems Kate is hell bent on destroying it in her quest for a baby.
Fans will soon see Kate make some major mistakes as she desperately tries to find a way to have a child, despite Rana’s reluctance.
Spoilers have already suggested Kate will ask Robert Preston (Tristan Gemmill) to be a sperm donor.
It comes after Michelle Connor (Kym Marsh) shut down Robert’s plea to have a child together, but how will she feel about him fathering Kate and Rana’s baby?
The situation is also set to get more difficult when Kate goes a step further and attempts to seduce Adam Barlow (Sam Robertson).
Driven by her grief for Aidan Connor (Shayne Ward) Kate risks everything, thinking falling pregnant will solve her issues.
The source added: “She’s out of her mind with grief for Aidan and thinks she’s lost Rana.
“She comes to her senses before going through with it.
“She’s gay and loves Rana, and can’t believe she nearly let her grief-fuelled obsession for a baby almost lead her into betraying who she is and making the biggest mistake of her life.”
But fans needn’t worry because the wedding is still very much at the forefront of her intentions.
“Kate and Rana will reunite and like all strong couples in soap, they will find a way to come through the rocky times. The wedding will be back on,” they added.
Coronation Street airs tonight at 7.30pm on ITV.
