Newly engaged Kate Connor (played by Faye Brookes) and Rana Nazir (Bhavna Limbachia) have agreed to start a family together.
But Kate’s “infatuation” with becoming a mother may be detrimental to her relationship, as she will do anything to have a baby.
In fact, Coronation Street actress Faye Brookes hinted that baby planning would cause problems between Kate and Rana.
“Everything Kate says is all to do with babies,” she said. “Kate’s gone crazy over this baby idea, she feels the need to fill the void.”
In an upcoming episode of the ITV drama series, Robert Preston (Tristan Gemmill) will offer to become a sperm donor for the couple.
However, his kind gesture could be seen as a betrayal, as Kate will refrain from telling Rana about Robert’s proposal until further down the line.
“I don’t think it’s going to be good, but Kate doesn’t want to tell Rana anything,” Faye told Belfast Telegraph.
“Everything is going to be sorted out, a contract drawn up, Robert signing that contract, knowing that everyone is going to be happy.”
Teasing the possibility of trouble ahead, the soap star added: “Kate wants this perfect plan and then she’ll be happy, but who knows if that’s going to happen.”
The 31-year-old star went on to say Kate will stop at nothing to get what she wants and in the process she risks upsetting her future wife.
This week in Coronation Street, Kate and Rana will receive good news when Johnny Connor (Richard Hawley) offers to pay for their IUI treatment.
Kate is thrilled her father wants to help them start their own family, but Rana seems a little reluctant.
In spoiler images released by ITV, Kate can be seen leaping to her feet and wrapping her arms around Johnny to embrace him.
However, a reserved Rana remains seated and awkwardly grasps her glass of wine, as the relatives share a hug.
Fans of the popular soap will know Rana had some reservations about starting a family, but was eventually persuaded to change her mind.
Bhavna Limbachia, who plays Rana, previously said: “When Rana was in a relationship with Zeedan she was never ready to have children and a part of Rana has always had that fear.
“Before she came on to the cobbles she was a free spirit, she wanted to travel and she wanted to see the world and that’s what she wants with Kate.”
She continued: “It throws her that Kate wants children straight away because it is not a conversation that they have had before.
“The more Kate talks about it, the more that fear is embedded in Rana and she can’t shift it, but she does want to make Kate happy.”
Coronation Street continues tomorrow on ITV at 7.30pm and 8.30pm.
