Max Branning (played by Jake Wood) has been loved and hated by EastEnders viewers over the past 14 years, with the character recently embracing a more caring nature.
The EastEnders bad boy has been locked in a custody battle with Cora Cross (Ann Mitchell) for the guardianship of his granddaughter Abi.
Alongside his wife Rainie Branning (Tanya Franks), Max believes the baby should live with him after the tragic death of his daughter Abi Branning (Lorna Fitzgerald) earlier this year.
However, BBC viewers know Max can go to great lengths to get what he wants, so will the Walford resident once again embrace his dark side?
After a prolonged break from the BBC soap last year, Max returned to the Square in spectacular fashion as the character sought revenge on those who had wronged him.
However, the plan went horrendously down hill when his dodgy dealings hit him in the face, with many of those on the Square turning against him.
This led to The Queen Vic roof showdown which saw both of his daughters, Abi and Lauren Branning (Jacqueline Jossa), falling from the great height.
Although Abi succumbed to her injuries, Lauren managed to make a recovery and left the Square to begin a new life abroad.
With his granddaughter Abi the only connection he has to his children, Max Branning actor Jake Wood has hinted the character could return to his evil and wicked ways to get custody.
Speaking about the storyline with Cora, Jake told The Sun Online: “They both feel like they are the right person to look after Abi going forward and neither of them are going to back down. It’s going to be full on.”
The actor teased a fight for the baby, adding: “Always good, always exciting and we enjoy a good tear-up in Walford.”
Will Max take drastic action to get rid of Cora and seek revenge once more?
During last night’s episode, Cora took her eyes off the pram baby Abi was in, with Robbie Jackson (Dean Gaffney) having to save the tot from being hit by a moving van.
Cora was seen pleading with Martin Fowler (James Alexandrou) who was witness to the near-fatal incident, not to let the information slip.
However, could Martin reveal the secret and give Max the ammunition to get his revenge on his mother-in-law?
Max isn’t the only one who is seeking revenge however, as it seems Mel Owen (Tamzin Outhwaite) could be set to expose her fiancé Ray Kelly (Sean Mahon).
In an explosive New Year storyline, Mel will go through with the marriage to Ray, knowing full well he has another family and a mistress on the side.
After the ceremony, Mel is set to reveal Ray’s secret to her fellow Walford residents, with Ray’s other wife and mistress in attendance.
After slapping the women across the face, Mel and the guests will watch on as Ray gets lead off in handcuffs by the police.
However, will this be the end of Ray or will he return to the Square with avengance?
EastEnders continues tonight at 8pm on BBC One.
